Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Bloomington Convention Center.  Join us for our annual Mardi Gras Celebration benefit for the Monroe County Chapter of the American Red Cross.  Unlimited food, beer and wine from BIRA restaurants, breweries and wineries. Ginormous shrimp/crawfish boil and live auction.  Dance the night away to Curtis Jackson’s Motown Review.  $60 per person.  Tickets available at www.bctboxoffice or at the door.

Sweet Pea Guacamole

Sweet Pea Guacomole - Daniel OrrThis addition of Recipe of the Month comes from the kitchen of Chef Daniel Orr and FARMbloomington.

Try this recipe to replace mayo on sandwiches and pita pockets, use it as a dip, use it on salads, use it as a sauce!  You don’t even need to tell your family and friends there is tofu in it!  Make a batch and use within 3-4 days.

Makes 3 cups

1# Sweet green peas- cooked until skins are tender and shocked in cold water.

1 ea. Chili pepper (depending on how hot you like it).

1 Tbs. Ginger- minced

1/2 pound silken tofu

1/2 cup olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Tabasco as needed

Puree ingredients together in food processor until smooth.

Season to taste with salt, pepper and Tabasco.
